The
museum is the result of a small collection of laundry items that the Tip
Top Dry Cleaners' company has brought together. It
is in effect a history of the laundry industry which begins with a washing
machine know as "Black Rose" which was first built late last
century.
There's
also a large collection of irons beginning with those that were used in
the 1700's by heating them in the fire - through to coal, gas and steam
powered models. There are also trouser presses, washing boards, hat blocks
and paraphernalia of the dry cleaning industry at 195 Richmond Road at
Richmond."
The museum is open office hours and entry is free. For more information
contact our friendly staff at the Richmond Road store on 8351 7900.
